There was to be a national event by Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace with people commemorating 5 years frack free and I was looking for an event to attend. Sadly – no one had organised one locally so I took it upon myself to add a simple Cardiff event.
I had an info pack sent and asked singers who I knew were interested in stopping fracking if they’d like to join me singing a couple of celebratory songs about nature. We also had a great song by Leon Rosselthon to sing based on his song “World Turned Upside Down” which he is very happy for people to sing to protest against any upsurge in fracking.
Though there were only a few of us my partner Jon captured Leon’s anti fracking song on video so the event though small will have a memory and possible longevity and perhaps inspire others – and even inspire those of us who were involved in the future – maybe even inspire me to put more time into summoning up a larger group!!
It may be needed – especially with the UK’s exit of Europe as M.P. struggle to work mainly on the economy and jobs and lose the priorities of looking after the earth – climate change and renewables etc. (Of course the arts and community arts may well be affected too)
Here’s the mini video of our small but brilliant singing crew outside Barclays – the Hayes!!

Another anti fracking – earth friendly song here….with lots of people singing – plus drummers plus even a Welsh verse!
