Choir Clock – Cardiff Festival of Voice 2016 https://festivalofvoice.wales/whats-on/choir-clock/

The Cardiff Canton Singers were asked to sing as part of this for the “Water taxi” leg of the event which took the performances from Cardiff Bay to the Castle where “Only Men Aloud” were going to be singing. We’d originally been asked to sing at the 7am slot – so were slightly relieved to have this changed to 10 am!

How lovely to be floating down the river singing as many water/sea and river songs as we had in our repertoire – in fact we didn’t get through them all as the boat seemed to be traveling way too fast!! Anyway we did have a captive audience who gave a us a very lovely cheerful reception and sang along with some of the songs too. With the option of a pop song or a Hawaiian Blessing they chose the Hawaiian Blessing – E Malama! Discerning audience!

We sang “E Malama” a Hawaiian blessing arrangement by Nickomo http://www.nickomoandrasullah.com/ , Come and Stand in That River –by Moira Smiley http://moirasmiley.com/store/?page_id=2762 – South Australia – Drunken Sailor – Ishe Oluwa arrangement by Una May Oluwaye http://yamanu.co.uk/ – Lay Down Your Sword and Shield – trad words music by Roxane Smith http://www.harmonyjunky.co.uk/ . A couple of choir members said that it was possibly the most “Fun” event we had done!

Feedback from Ramzi – the organiser of our sections of the Choir Clock.

Thank you so much for yours and the choir’s contribution to choir clock on the weekend. Both choirs were amazing and had such a positive energy and appeal. I absolutely loved the boat journey up the river, there were smiles throughout the boat and it was brilliant to see the audience join in!”

Thanks to our wonderful Julia Ballard for her photos from the altos!
